Sports Massage Warwick

Sports Massage Warwick

Sports Massage is a deep tissue massage. It aims to get deep into the muscle and return the muscle to its normal length and tone.

It can be uncomfortable, but is highly effective at loosening and rebalancing tight muscles.

What makes us different?

Based a few miles outside of Warwick, The Reinge Clinic look at Sports Massage slightly differently. We aim to understand why your body is getting tight,  to ensure we loosen the right muscles to give a long term effect.

Sports Massage isn't just for people who exercise, for example, let's say you were getting headaches. Headaches are often caused by tight shoulders, when the head and shoulders start to move forward, due to sitting at desks or using mobile phones all day, it causes a lot of tension on the muscles at the back of the neck.

They attach to the base of the skull, so if the skull moves forward, these muscles stretch. Although your tension is on the back of the neck, we would start by loosening the muscles on the front of the neck, allowing the neck to come back to a more functional position.

This means that when we then loosen the back of the neck and upper shoulders, the bit that is tight and giving you problems, it is more likely to stay loose for longer.

Why do we give exercises?

A limitation of Sports Massage, is that you feel great for a short while but after a week or so you just feel tight again.

This is  because Sports Massage only loosens muscles, it doesn't alter your muscle memory.

Over time, your muscles get used to the position they are in and if you alter this position through massage, the muscle will, over time, try to return to that position. The muscle feels strong in its old position and weak in the new position.

So we reinforce the new position by giving you a strength exercise and often a stretch.

After a few massage sessions, with the strengthening in between, the body will learn to feel strong in the new position and your massage will then last.

I'm a Barber and along with that had lots of back trouble. Gina at The Reinge Clinic helped to ease these pains through deep tissue massage and made it so much easier for me to stand at work. I'd always advise anyone to check them out if I'm a similar position.

Both Gina and Ian have given support when I have experienced pain due to a long term health condition. Both are very friendly and knowledgeable.
